Understanding the basics of digital imaging has become an important life skill, whether you are planning a career related to the vast field of digital imagery, or simply wanting to learn how to correctly handle images from your digital camera. In this course you will learn the basics of digital imaging and will use digital cameras, scanners and Adobe Photoshop to create your own images. Skills you will learn include combining images, changing backgrounds, improving image quality, eliminating flaws, changing colours, and creating special effects.

Music on Computers, Grade 9, open
AMM1O0

Whether you’re an accomplished musician or have no musical training, you’ll be quickly recording your own songs. Use pre-recorded loops, plug in a piano keyboard or guitar — or even sing — and make your own track, add all of the other instruments digitally then mix your song on computer. Save your work as MP3 files to CD or iPod. You will also learn to understand written music and write your own compositions. Piano keyboard skills are useful but not necessary.

Computer Art, Grade 10, open

Students will shoot and edit their own movies using video cameras and computers (all are supplied), and will experiment with GarageBand, a digital music composition program. Students will also continue their work with digital photography and Photoshop. Recommended preparation is AWS1O0.
