Teaching a Grade 1 Math Student (uses int(), rand(), if(), count(), countif() formulas)

Create a spreadsheet to help a grade 1 math student practice their addition skills.

Steps:

  1. Create random numbers in Column A and C. Put in the + and = signs. Fill Down.
  2. Cut the random numbers and choose to Paste Special. In the dialogue box provided, choose values. This stops the random numbers from changing every two seconds.
  3. Put the appropriate formula in Column F to make the smiley face or frown appear based on whether or not the answer is right. Note that it should put nothing in if there is no answer entered.
  4. A smiley face is upper case J in Wingdings and a frown is upper case L in Wingdings.
  5. Calculate the number correct and the percentage correct using formulas.
  6. Format your spreadsheet. Add colour and titles.
  7. Show me when your spreadsheet is complete.
