Failures are a big problem. If Visa lost their credit card data, they'd be cooked.

Some backup techniques that might be tried are:

• Fail while working - make a copy of the file every week.
• Fail while doing backup - make 2 backups.
• Fail with a virus - do rotating backups. Backup one one week and one another.
• Earthquake layers the building - have off site storage
• You no longer need the file daily - archive the data.
