350 students started the Accelerated Reader(A/R) program in the 2003/2004 school year. Yes! More students are reading daily and achieving success. Some, who have never been motivated before, are saying, "I loved this book. I want to read another." Others are saying, "This is the first time I achieved 80% on a reading test". What's the secret? Picking interesting books, picking books at the appropriate level, and reading every day. It's that simple.

It all starts in the library where students are trained in Accelerated Reader. After training, students select from approximately 1,000 books with Accelerated Reader quizzes. These books become the cornerstone of the program. For thirty minutes at the beginning of each class, and for thirty minutes every evening, students read their books. When the books are finished, students take the Accelerated Reader quiz. Of course, each student achieves 80-100% because they picked the right book. Students are so happy about their achievement, they want to read more, and they do, each and every day.

The program doesn't end there. As students continue to achieve 80-100%, they are steered to increasingly difficult books or books with different themes. The learning never stops. Yahoo!
